Balancing your emotions in unstable times

When life changes quickly and dramatically, your mental health can suffer.

How to balance emotions

Practice communication

Communicate with your loved ones and friends, and ask them how they are going through this time? Offering them your support can help them maintain a sense of community, which is essential to combat feelings of loneliness and helplessness.

Limit media consumption

Don’t get caught up in the 24/7 news cycle. Instead, try to keep your mind in the present, making the most of the time you enjoy with family or friends.

Open yourself to new experiences

Just because there are limitations on what you can do in the outside world, doesn’t mean that all new experiences are off limits.

Don’t let things spiral

A small amount of stress is normal, but when negative thoughts and worry start to interfere with your functioning, it’s important to take action and seek help.

The Importance of Self-Care and Self-Love

Much has been said about how relevant it is to maintain bonds with others and build healthy relationships. But how much of our effort do we invest in others, and how willing are we to give that same recognition to ourselves?

Beyond the busyness and worries of everyday life, it is essential that we remember who we are, where we come from and where we are going. And, while it might seem like a definition straight out of an encyclopedia, practicing self-care routines can help us keep all of this in the present.

Learning to love and care for ourselves means dedicating a specific time each day to do those things that make us feel whole and calm, in order to reconnect with our inner selves; therefore, self-love involves a different process for each person, and involves getting in touch with who we are and trying different things until we find what makes us feel whole.

It is important to understand one thing: anxiety and depression are treatable, and do not minimize our value as people and individuals.

Remember that prevention and early care are the best ways to take care of our mental health and that of our loved ones.
